Blip is a map of how streets feel, made from what people nearby have noticed. Using it means agreeing to a few simple rules.

Report places, not people

Tags and notes describe a place, or something that happened there. Do not describe, identify or photograph individuals. A report about a person is not a report about a street, and it is not what Blip is for.

Zero tolerance for abuse

Hateful, threatening, discriminatory or illegal content is not allowed. Notes are never shown to other people, but we can slow down or block any device that sends abusive or deliberately false reports, and we will.

If something on the map looks wrong, use "Something wrong?" on the area. Enough reports and it is hidden while we look.

It is a guide, not a guarantee

Blip shows what people have chosen to report. It is not a safety rating, and an empty map means nobody has reported there — never that a place is safe. Do not rely on Blip to decide whether somewhere is dangerous.

In an emergency, call your local emergency number: 112 in the EU.

Official warnings are shown as issued

In Germany, Blip repeats warnings published by NINA, the federal warning system. We show them unchanged and name who issued them, but Blip is not an official warning channel, may be delayed or incomplete, and must never be your only source. NINA and your phone's own emergency alerts are. Where a warning matters, follow the authorities, not us.

Your reports

You keep no account, so a report cannot be traced back to you — including by us. In exchange, a report you send cannot be recovered if you delete the app or start fresh, and you can only remove a report from the iPhone that sent it.

You give us permission to show your reports as part of the totals for an area, anonymously and for as long as they count.

Availability

Blip is free, has no ads, and comes with no guarantee of availability. We may change or stop parts of it. Where a change affects what you agreed to, we publish it 30 days before it takes effect.

Liability

Blip is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what you do or do not do because of something you saw, or did not see, on the map. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by German law. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer in the country you live in.

Changes

The current version is always published here, with the date it took effect, and every earlier version stays available.
